Biography
Welcome to my website!
I’ve always wanted to be a writer. But bills need to be paid, right? I tried a brief stint as an RN, but that didn’t feel quite right. (One nursing instructor at Ohio State wasn’t too keen on my nursing dedication, but she did say that I wrote the best papers.) Eventually, I turned my stethoscope in for a pen (well, a Remington) and later a computer.
I was very excited to be on the ground floor of a new field, medical writing. I’ve spent the past 30 years editing, rewriting, and ghostwriting for health care professionals. My clients’ work appears on Amazon, in a host of medical journals, in hospitals and medical clinics, and on websites. My favorite part of this job is taking complex medical lingo and writing a paper that anyone can understand.
And as many writers know, you learn a lot from teaching. Each week I help high school students hone their basic writing skills and hopefully develop a passion for writing. (Writing is difficult, but it doesn’t have to be onerous!) Teaching has led to a column in The Next Step Magazine, which is geared to high school students.
In addition to The Next Step Magazine, my work has been published in Bay Area Parent, Chevron Magazine, College Bound Magazine, Pfizer for Livin, San Jose Mercury News, and Women’s Magazine.
I am currently a member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
